About OurKampung

Who writes these guides, and how we handle running businesses in the same space.

Who we are

OurKampung is written by the team behind four Singapore home-services businesses. Between them, they cover the jobs a home needs at its busiest moments:

  • HomeToMoved — moving and packing for HDB flats, condos and landed homes.
  • HomeToClean — move-in, move-out, deep and post-renovation cleaning.
  • Junk to Clear — disposal and clearance of furniture, bulky items and household junk.
  • SkillsToFix — handyman repairs, aircon servicing and pest control.

Kampung means village. The name is about the kind of advice you'd once have got from a neighbour who'd done it all before: practical, specific, and honest about what's worth paying for and what isn't.

How we write

  • Useful on its ownEvery guide should help whether or not you hire anyone. Plenty of it is DIY, and we say so.
  • Specific to SingaporeHDB rules, condo house rules, tenancy agreements and the climate — not advice written for somewhere else.
  • Sourced where it mattersFor rules and deadlines we link to the agency responsible. Rules change, so check the source before you rely on it.
  • Honest about what variesTenancy agreements, condo rules and renovation contracts differ. Where it depends on yours, we say so.

When we link to our own businesses

Only where a guide covers something one of them actually does — a move-out clean in the tenancy guide, aircon servicing in the aircon guide. Most of those links sit in a clearly labelled "Need a hand with this?" box at the end of each guide. We don't rank our businesses against competitors, and we don't publish "best of" lists.

Where one of our sister sites has already written a good guide, we link to it rather than write a competing one.

Corrections and suggestions

If something in a guide is out of date or wrong, or there's a topic you'd like covered, please tell us. We update guides when rules or practices change, and every guide shows when it was last updated. For bookings and quotes, contact the businesses directly using the links above.
